ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb Tuesday said that 1.5 Lac vacancies in federal government’s ministries are being abolished with approval of the federal cabinet, ARY News reported.
Addressing a press conference here finance minister said that the volume of the federal government will be slashed gradually.
Aurangzeb said that a committee constituted by the prime minister has reviewed 33 ministries and 400 departments of the federal government. “Various ministries and departments will be scrutinized step by step,” he said.
“The reforms process in the FBR also being moved forward,” he further said.
Finance minister said that the economy has been in the right direction. “The government is taking steps in the interest of the country,” he further said.
He said the nation being informed about the government’s plan of the austerity measures. “We don’t want unsubstantial claims for reduction in government expenditures,” minister said.
Finance Minister said the private sector’s role will be enhanced and called the private sector to play its role in the economic development of the country.
He said the ministries’ cleaning and gardening works would also be outsourced.
