Rajasthan schoolgirl alleges rape; Congress leader takes ‘Rapistan’ jab

A 7-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly kidnapped and raped while returning home from school after giving her half-yearly exam in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district.

According to the police, she was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an unidentified man when she was walking home through a stretch of farmland located between the bus stop and her home. The incident happened between 1-2 pm.

The victim managed to return home in a distraught state and informed her mother about the ordeal. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but was later referred to Ajmer’s Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

Police and administrative officials promptly reached the scene and initiated an investigation. Teams have been formed to track down the accused. Thawla Police Station in-charge Mahendra Singh stated that the case has been handed over to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Degana, given its serious nature.

Reacting to the incident, Congress General Secretary Jaswant Gurjar condemned the rise in such crimes, saying, “The increasing cases of rape are turning Rajasthan into ‘Rapistan’.”

Earlier in September, a 19-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by five men after giving her an intoxicant in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer.
