Actor Manu Bennett shares shocking X-ray image after his hand was crushed in a dune buggy accident in Dubai

Australian-New Zealand actor Manu Bennett has shared a shocking x-ray image of his hand after it was crushed in a dune buggy accident.

Yesterday, the Spartacus actor shared a selfie of him sitting in a pool with his left hand resting above the water and stitches noticeable between his knuckles.

“Having almost severed my hand two months ago in a nasty dune buggy accident, you can see the stitches in my hand from the last surgery,” he wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.

“I’ve come to truly appreciate the body God granted me & how vulnerable any of us are to losing these gifts & this greatest gift of life.”

Shortly after, Bennett decided to address those questions with a second post to the social media platform, this time sharing a shocking X-ray image of his hand.

“Given so many friends have asked here is an X-ray of the multiple fractures to my hand caused when it was crushed by the roll bar of a dune buggy as it flipped,” he wrote.

In the X-ray, it seems as though all the bones through the centre of Bennett’s hand were crushed, with The Hobbit actor sharing that the roll bar – a design feature of dune buggies intended to keep passengers safe – essentially acted as a “bear trap.”

“[The] Image is too graphic for Insta but [I’m] extremely lucky that my tendons remained intact during the heavy crush.”

He then thanked the medical team that tended to him after the accident.

“I’m indebted & forever thankful to the staff at Rashid Hospital, Dubai & my surgeon ‘The Maestro’ Dr Nebosjka, who literally saved my hand,” he wrote.

“Most of all, thank you to God for watching over me. It could have been a lot worse & I truly count my blessings.”
