Social media has blown up with outrage from Billie Eilish fans after the singer was hit in the face by what appeared to be a blue friendship bracelet during her concert in Arizona.

The singer was performing at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, when she was struck by the object seemingly thrown by a fan.

Eilish was sitting cross-legged on the stage and had just begun to sing the opening lines of her Oscar winning hit, What Was I Made For, when the object was thrown.

She stopped singing and flinched as fans gasped and booed when the blue piece of jewellery hit her in the face.

For a second, the star seemed noticeably irritated before resuming the song and tossing the bracelet off the stage. 

“My vid of the f—a– friemdship (sic) bracelet being thrown at billie tn in az… so f—ing embarrasing (sic) do better!!!” wrote one fan on Twitter above a video of the moment.

“You dumb Arizona b—— had the chance to see Billie Eilish and the first thing y’all do is throw s— at her what is wrong with y’all,” asked another.

A third fan suggested that whoever threw the bracelet “needs their butt whoop[ed]” adding, “This is why I would never want to be a performer. The disrespect they are showing artists these days is truly disgusting. I wish I could give Billie a hug.”

Eilish and her brother Finneas have both previously spoken out against fans throwing objects on stage, since the trend seems to have picked up over recent years.

“I’ve been getting hit on stage with things for literally six years,” Eilish told The Hollywood Reporter at the LA premiere of Barbie in 2023.

“People just get excited and it can be dangerous. It’s absolutely infuriating when you’re up there. When you’re up there, it blows.

“You know it’s out of love,” she added. “[but ] you’re in a vulnerable position.”

After explaining he understands that, usually, people aren’t trying to actually hit the artist, Finneas added, “Don’t do it.”

Singer Bebe Rexha is one of the artists who suffered injuries as a result of fans tossing things on stage.

A fan threw his phone onto the sage, hitting Rexha in the face, and now faces charges on two counts of third degree assault, as well as second degree aggravated harassment, third degree attempted assault, and second degree harassment.

Country star Kelsea Ballerini is among several artists who have addressed their fans, asking them to please stop throwing things after she rushed off stage when she was hit by a bracelet during a show in Boise, Idaho.

“Hi. I’m fine. Someone threw a bracelet, it hit me in the eye, and it more so just scared me than hurt me,” she wrote on her Instagram story the next day.

“We all have triggers and layers of fears way deeper than what is shown, and that’s why I walked offstage to calm down and make sure myself, band and crew and the crowd all felt safe to continue.”

Musician Charlie Puth took to Twitter to condemn the actions of fans following the incidents involving Rexa and Ballerini.

“This trend of throwing things at performers while they are on stage must come to an end,” he wrote.

“It’s so disrespectful and very dangerous. Please just enjoy the music I beg of you…”
