Holly Marie Combs’ touching tribute to late Charmed co-star Shannen Doherty after ’90s icon’s death

Holly Marie Combs has revealed her touching tribute to her late friend and Charmed co-star Shannen Doherty, who died in July last year following a lengthy cancer battle.

Combs, 51, shared a picture of her Christmas tree and festive décor, revealing she has a picture of herself with Doherty hanging as an ornament on her tree.

The actress shared a post on Instagram revealing her decorations and writing: “It’s staying up a little longer this year because last year sucked. I don’t make the rules. I just like to break em. #happynewyear

“So beautiful, the sisterhood between you and Shannen was truly one of a kind. Thank you for sharing your love for each other with us all,” one follower commented underneath her post.

“We miss Shannen so much! May she rest in peace,” another added.

Doherty died at the age of 53 in July last year, following a years-long battle with cancer. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer but it spread to her brain.

Her publicist Leslie Sloane said in a statement: ”It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease.”

“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”

Following the sad news, a host of stars paid tribute to Doherty, including her former Charmed co-stars.

Combs said Doherty was her “better half of 31 years”.

“There is a hollow in my chest and I can’t seem to catch my breath. A part of me is missing even though I know exactly what you would say to me right now,” she wrote in part of her post, adding that Doherty was “a fierce fighter til the end”.

Rose McGowan said Doherty “had the heart of a lion,” while Alyssa Milano shared a statement with People saying she was “someone I deeply respected and was in awe of”.
