Five members of a family were found dead inside their home in Meerut’s Lisari Gate area. The victims include a man, his wife, and their three daughters, all under the age of 10. While the couple’s bodies were discovered on the floor, the bodies of the children were found inside a bed box.
According to police, all the bodies had head injuries, and appeared to have been hit with a heavy object.
“The exact cause of death will be determined after the postmortem. Based on initial observations, it appears to be a case of murder due to personal enmity. Senior officials are present at the site, and the investigation is progressing swiftly,” said SSP Vipin Tada.
Police were alerted when neighbours noticed something unusual and reported the matter. Upon arrival, officers found the house locked from the outside. They entered through the roof and uncovered the grim scene. All five victims had head injuries, which police suspect were caused by a heavy object.
Visuals from the scene showed the house in complete disarray, and the bodies lying around. The body of the youngest child was found in a sack inside the bedbox.
The neighbours shared that the family had not been seen since Wednesday evening, which raised concerns and eventually led to the discovery.
