Rajasthan: Two soldiers killed in accident during training exercise in Bikaner’s Mahajan firing range

Two soldiers were killed on a firing range in Rajasthan’s Bikaner on Wednesday while loading ammunition in a tank during a training exercise.

The incident took place in the North camp of the Mahajan field firing range on Wednesday when the charger exploded while they were loading the ammunition. The killed soldiers were identified as Ashutosh Mishra from Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria and Jitendra from Rajasthan’s Dausa, news agency PTI quoted police as saying.

Another soldier was injured in the incident and has been airlifted to Chandigarh for treatment.

Police personnel rushed to the spot as soon as they received information about the blast.

Notably, this is the second such incident on the firing range in a week, PTI reported.

A gunner, Chandra Prakash Patel, was killed when he was hooking a gun with the gun towing vehicle on Sunday. The vehicle suddenly slipped backwards and Patel was fatally injured.
