Sgt. Rock is officially in the DC Universe! The iconic war hero recently made his appearance in episode 3 of Creature Commandos.
Creature Commandos has gotten off to an amazing start with fans. While many worried that it might lose steam after its fantastic two episode debut, it’s clear that James Gunn plans to keep the hype train rolling with a stunning episode 3. While plenty of cameos from across the DC Universe were spotted in the episode (including a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-one by Michael Rooker), the one people have been most talkative about is the appearance of Sgt. Rock.
Sgt. Rock makes his appearance in a flashback about GI Robot’s past in episode 3 titled Cheers To The Tin Man. The soldier is seen alongside the other members of Easy Company, including Little Sure Shot (Robbie Daymond) and Bulldozer (Paul Ben-Victor). While the hero doesn’t do much aside from killing Nazis, it’s a very amusing scene that shows how dynamic the characters are, despite being written off as boring by many fans.
When Will Sgt. Rock Return To The DC Universe?
Sgt. Rock’s appearance in Creature Commandos comes off the heels of a report stating that Luca Guadagnino is developing a movie based on the character for the DC Universe. While the character is voiced by Maury Sterling in episode 3, it’s not likely he’ll make the jump into live-action, with the prior report stating that Daniel Craig is being eyed to star in the project.
In the same vein, it’s unclear if GI Robot will appear in the Sgt. Rock film. While episode 3 of Creature Commandos undoubtedly confirmed his presence in Easy Company during World War 2, the cartoonishly loveable robot played by Sean Gunn likely wouldn’t fit in the world of grounded dramas that Luca Guadagnino is known for. Though as with anything in the DC Universe, nothing is confirmed until its confirmed.
Creature Commandos is currently streaming on Max. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe.
